Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between smoking addiction and academic performance among students in Faisalabad, highlighting the detrimental effects of smoking on cognitive function, mental health, and physical well-being. Smoking impairs concentration, memory, and learning capacity, leading to declining academic achievement, absenteeism, truancy, and dropout rates. The study reveals that smoking addiction poses a significant threat to the academic success and well-being of students worldwide. In Pakistan, particularly in Faisalabad, the prevalence of smoking among students has raised concerns about its impact on their educational outcomes. This study aims to investigate the correlation between smoking addiction and academic performance among students in Faisalabad, identifying key areas of concern and potential strategies for intervention. This study investigates the correlation between smoking addiction and academic performance among students in Faisalabad. The findings indicate a significant negative impact on GPAs and academic motivation. To address this issue, collaborative efforts between educational institutions, policymakers, and healthcare professionals are crucial. Implementing comprehensive anti-smoking programs, providing accessible counseling, promoting healthy lifestyle alternatives, enforcing smoke-free campus policies, and educating students about smoking risks are essential steps. By addressing the smoking epidemic, we can improve students' academic outcomes, enhance their overall well-being, and empower them to reach their full potential, fostering a healthier and more productive educational environment.
